O Cachacier

Happy 2009!

I decided to start the year and post a funny and curious product I found on the network. This is a black cachaça. Yes, it’s black, opaque, dark. This is the site of Cachaça Cana Crioula (www.canacrioula.com.br). The site is even interesting, brings the history of the variety of the sugar cane, the reason of color, but has little information on what really matters, the cachaça. The most that they mention is the aging in oak and jatobá barrels  – perhaps this gives the black color, if it is natural – and it is done in Porto Feliz – SP. Incidentally (distillation, fermentation, alcohol, time in the wood): nothing.

I’ve never tasted this before so, I can’t say whether it is good or bad, but I can say that it’s at least weird. There is a vodka with this feature, a black vodka, the Blavod – if I’m not mistaken. I have seen it in some stores and supermarkets and can say that I will never buy a black vodka. Cachaça then …

This may be a huge prejudice, but I still have my beliefs and my principles. It is curiosity.

Feliz 2009!

Resolvi começar o ano de bom humor e postar um produto curioso que achei na rede. Trata-se de uma cachaça preta. Isso mesmo, preta, opaca, escura. Trata da Cachaça Cana Crioula (www.canacrioula.com.br). O site é até interessante, traz a história dessa variedade de cana, o motivo da cor etc, mas traz poucas informações sobre o que realmente interessa, a cachaça. O máximo que eles mencionam é o envelhecimento em tonéis de carvalho e de jatobá – talvêz dai a cor, se é que ela é natural – e que ela é feita em Porto Feliz – SP. De resto (destilação, fermentação, graduação alcoolica, tempo na madeira): nada.

Não provei a mardita, por isso não posso falar se é boa ou ruim, mas posso dizer que acho, no mínimo, esquisito. Existe no mercado uma vodca com essa característica, uma vodca preta, a Blavod – se não me engano. Já ví em algumas lojas ou supermercados e posso afirmar que eu jamais compraria uma vodca preta. Cachaça então…

Poder ser puro preconceito, mas ainda tenho minhas crenças e meus princípios. Fica a curiosidade.
